Early Childhood Special Education Services
Welcome to Melissa Miller's page!
I have been with the Prescott School District for 15 years as an Early Childhood Special Education Teacher. I have an undergraduate degree in Speech Therapy and my Masters degree in Early Childhood Special Education. Both degrees I earned from UWEC. Here in Prescott the program has changed and developed as the needs of our students and the addition of programming has developed. Although we continue to provide a continuum of services from Home-bound to Inclusion, below will describe some programming here in Prescott.

Three-Yr old PlaygroupCurrently, there is a three-year old playgroup that is located in the Malone Elementary school building. This group meets 3 days a week and focuses on all areas of development. Children in this group may or may not have an IEP (Individual Education Plan). Language concepts and social play skills are a large focus for children in this age group. If you would like more information, please feel free to contact me.

4K SupportI am the support teacher for the 4K team here in Prescott. I am a resource for their needs in the classroom as well as the needs of the students/families they serve. I am in the classroom to support students with IEP's and to support the teachers in their need to enhance, grow and develop students abilities.

Family SupportMy role as an EC Teacher is to help families with issues they are having with their child's development. For children with IEP's I provide home visits and daycare visits to assist in those environments with situations they may be having with a child. Currently in our district I am offering a Parenting class called: Positive Solutions for Families. This class will be offered through Community Ed for free. Contact me or the district to see when a class is being offered.
